My Story
Natalie Abecasis - Founder of Dream
I've been in the hair industry for almost 9 years now. Although I specialise in hair extensions, if my girls can be without them, then that is the goal.
After seeing & touching hundreds possibly thousands of heads & going through a hair health journey myself, I discovered quickly that 90% of people are making simple mistakes that are causing damaged, broken, un-growable, thinning hair.
After fixing my own hair I was desperate to share my journey to help not only my clients but as many people as possible and so a Dream was born.
My Journey
I would love to be able to tell you that there is some miracle quick fix, but the truth is, gaining healthy dreamy hair is a long process that you have to be dedicated to.
I have documented my personal story below...

What went wrong
-
I was using hair spray
-
I was bleaching my hair
-
I was using the wrong hair brush
-
I was washing my hair daily
-
I was overusing heat
-
I was generally neglecting my hair with no understanding of why my hair wouldn't grow.

This left me with short, broken, dry, frazzled, lifeless hair. I was self conscious & miserable.
So I decided to make a change & see my hair like a fitness journey.
I researched & tried multiple products, serums, home remedies, tablets & this is what worked for me (and since, what has worked for my clients).

My tried & tested regime
-
The first and most important thing - I stopped washing my hair. I only washed my hair once a month for the first 12 months. This ensured that all my natural oils fed & nourished my hair.
-
I had my hair trimmed every 6 weeks. Just like cutting the grass you need to skim the ends to encourage growth.
-
I didn't have my hair coloured for over a year.
-
On wash days I used home-made rice water - yes I literally boiled rice in a pan, saved the water and then poured it over my hair - It stank - but it worked (luckily for you lot I have developed a mixture you can readily buy and smells like roses)
-
I stopped going to bed with wet hair
-
I stopped tying my hair up when wet
-
I stopped using heat completely for the first 12 months.
-
For special occasions (weddings etc) I would slick back my hair using my natural grease and then use a clip in pony tail, I bought a cheap weft to make as a messy bun, I bought braided hair bands and sometimes even a wig.
-
I bought and used a silk pillow case - and I would not and still won't sleep on anything else (plus it has great benefits for your skin)
-
I brushed my hair twice a day
-
I couldn't find a brush that really helped my hair - so I used a standard paddle brush - And this is where the Hairbrush of Dreams was really born.

So realistically I didn't do a huge amount, I didn't spend loads of money (because I couldn't) & I found what really worked for me.
And that formula has now helped & changed the lives of many.
It's important to know that this journey was not quick. It took me close to 3 years to see these kind of results. See photos of my journey below... they're not pretty but this is the reality & why I am so passionate about a good honest hair regime.
